The Body Shop Vit E Duo

First of all before I get into why these two products are my holy grail of skincare, I need to apologize for being MIA. Dancing became my full time job in October and things became so hectic I just didn't have the time to post anything worthwhile; and then of course, the longer you leave it the harder it is to come back... (I'm not even sure if I know what I'm doing.)

If things do become a bit quiet on here again, you can follow what I'm upto by adding me below!

Anyway, now that that's out of the way I can get back to what this post is really about!

I started using the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil along with the Vitamin E Intensive Moisture Cream more than a year ago. My skin type is dry-normal but usually more on the dry side. When it is going through a rough patch it is literally that. Rough patches EVERYWHERE.

So I began searching reviews online of affordable products targeted towards dry skin. When I saw that Skincare Queen +Caroline Hirons approved of the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil I knew I had to try it.

The Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil is £15 and the Vitamin E Intensive Moisture Cream is £13; however, The Body Shop also sell these in a set for £20 which is much better value and the one I keep repurchasing.

According to +The Body Shop Ireland :
  • Skin feels recharged, replenished and softer
  • Non-greasy, fast absorbing formula
  • Skin looks fresher, rested and more radiant
I have to agree with their claims as the thing I love most about this oil is that it really absorbs into the skin. You can feel it working and doesn't sit on top leaving a greasy film behind like many other products I've tried over the years.

I apply a few drops of the oil at night, leave it to absorb for a few minutes and the apply the Vitamin E Intensive Moisture Cream on top.
If my skin is feeling quite dry before I put makeup on, I will apply a drop or two before I use my day time moisturiser.

If you have dry-normal skin and it feels a bit on the dry side or is looking quite lacklustre in general, definitely try this Vit E duo. You'll be as hooked as I am!

My Ladybug - Ireland's First Period Subscription Box

Period. Such a natural and normal part of being a girl yet still  a taboo subject! We all have it yet no one likes to talk about it and the majoirty don't like to see that "time of the month" come around... (sounds as if I'm speaking in riddles!)

No matter what your Period experience is, its usually quite an unpleasant one and what better way to cheer you up than a box full of essentials and carefully packed goodies! I was kindly sent this Monthly Subscription Box from My LadyBug and think it is such a fab idea, I thought I'd share it with you.

Personally I get really bad PMS in the lead up to my period, usually wake up in the middle of the night with painful cramps and often feel dizzy and light headed. I am usually in bad form and like nothing more than to chill out with a mountain of chocolate, a hot water bottle and herbal tea.

The Subscription Box from MyLadyBug can be tailored to suit your needs and you can chose exactly what kind of Tampons and/or Sanitary Towels you want included in your box. You also get a supply of chocolate and some herbal tea in a little pouch. (I always use these handy pouches to carry earrings and dainty jewellery when I'm travelling.)

MyLadyBug believe in taking the drama out of your period and I fully support this concept! Boxes are priced at €9.99 + FREE shipping & you can cancel at any time. To avail of a 15% discount off your first box use my discount code "RBLOG" on MyLadyBug !

All subscription boxes are dispatched monthly on 19-21st; allow 5 days for delivery & re-billing is  on the 31st or 1st after you receive your first box.

What do you find helps you around your time of the month?

Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream

It terms of BB Cream, Garnier is my go to brand when I want a nice sheer, breathable coverage. However, I have just finished the last of it and instead of repurchasing it for the fourth time I wanted to try something new. I have just gone back to work and the air-con/ central heating is wreaking havoc on my skin! Anything too heavy just leaves my skin looking dull and caked so BB Cream is definitely the best thing for a light even coverage. I swatched a few different BB Creams from Maybelline and L'Oréal in Boots and the Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream just felt like the most moisturising one with the best coverage.

Rimmel 9 in 1 is quite thick in texture in comparison to other BB Creams which is something that I like as it gives a better lasting coverage. The finish is Semi- Matte which is exactly what I want need for daytime; I like to pair it with the No.7 Instant Radiance Cream Highlight and the Maybelline Eraser Concealer to give a dewy and glowy look.

It claims to: prime, moisturise, minimize pores, conceal, cover, smooth, mattify, brighten and help protect. I definitely didn't pick this up as a multi-purpose product and if I did I would have to say that it doesn't tick all nine boxes. I needed to use separate products to prime, highlight and conceal  as this product doesn't do that, It is moisturising, has a medium coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and has an SPF of 25 which is all that I look for in a BB Cream so it is a thumbs up for me!

If you have any BB Cream recommendations please let me know below!

Budget Beauty Buys at Penneys/Primark

There is nothing that I love more than a bargain when it comes to beauty products so I thought I would share some of my favourites with you! All of these items are from the P.S. Love range in Penneys/ Primark which means that they are easy to get your hands on and if you find that you don't like them at least you won't be out a fortune!

Makeup Brush Cleaner 125ml, €2.50
I have previously written a blog post on the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner, here, stating how handy it is for keeping your makeup brushes clean in between giving them a deep clean. However, the Cinema Secrets one is twice the price with only half the contents in comparison to the P.S. Love Brush Cleaner from Penneys! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Penneys counterpart is and will definitely be purchasing more in the future!

False Nails in Fashion & French, €1.50
These False Nails are perfect for an event or night out and are so easy to apply! The glue that comes with them does the trick but if you want them to last a little bit longer it is better to buy some Broadway Nail Glue and use it instead. The only thing about these nails is they aren't going to fit everyone's nails perfectly but for €1.50 can you really complain!? I love the polished look that these nails give for such a tiny price tag!

30PK Individual Lashes, €1.50
These are by far my favourite budget beauty buy from Penneys/Primark. I have a pack of unopened individual lashes from Eylure that I never seem to gravitate towards. I love the fluttery effect of these P.S. Love lashes and they look so natural applied to the outer corners of the top lashes. I am wearing them in this picture below along with a Wet N Wild Lipstick in "Cherry Picking"(which can also be found in Penneys). The Ardell Demi Wispies are my all time favourite strip lashes but are quite pricey and the P.S. Love lashes are like the Demi Wispies in Individual Lash form!

Day to Night Style

I love putting together pieces that are comfy enough to wear during the day but can also be dressed up to wear out at night too. In the age of social media, most of us girls feel that we can only wear something once, especially if it's been uploaded to facebook. I'm not sure where this mindset has stemmed from and although it might seem a bit extreme and ridiculous sometimes we like to keep up appearances online... It's times like these that I feel glad to be a bargain  hunter!

I wanted to show you how I style basics, jeans and a bodysuit from Miss Selfridge, to take the look from casual to evening wear.

Casual

A simple pair of canvas trainers is all you need to make this outfit look casual. I would also add a leather jacket if it's cold outside and a fringed bag from Primark/Penneys if I'm going shopping.

Going Out

To make this outfit more dressy I've added pointed heels, a straight line blazer and a pair of statement earrings.I would also style this with a clutch bag to house all my essentials when I'm out and about. Although this look has a very laid back vibe, it is still dressy enough to wear if you're going out for dinner or to a bar.

What are your day to night essentials?

Sick Day Makeup

So it is the first day of 2015 and I am still sick. Even though I 'm feeling like absolute crap I decided that I didn't want to feel ugly too so I took ten minutes out of lying in bed to throw some make up on. (I feel so much better for it already).

I kept things simple on my eyes with one swipe of eye shadow and a few coats of mascara. I also used white eye liner to make my glazed eyes look brighter. On my face I kept the base light by using a BB cream. A few swipes of bronzer and a cream blusher were used to add some colour to my pale face and bucket loads of concealer and highlighter to fake a glow. For my lips I used a lip liner that matches my lip colour and put a similar colour of lip balm over the top.

Face: NSpa Illuminating Beauty Serum, Benefit POREfessional, Garnier BB Cream in Light, Sephora Bronzer in Medium, MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter, MUA Cover&Conceal, Catrice Camouflage Cream, Max Factor Miracle Touch Cream Blush in 07 Sofy Candy.
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Liar), Soap and Glory Thick&Fast Mascara, Rimmel Kohl eye liner in Pure White.
Lips: Essence Lip Liner in Soft Mauve, Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Berry Soft.

Nope, it's not a cow pyjama hoody but a Disney Dalmatian one and it's an absolute essential for sick days! -So warm, fluffy and cosy.

I hope you all had a lovely New Year!

What I Got for Christmas 2014

I just want to start this post by saying that I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas with all of their family and friends and got lots of lovely gifts! I have seen this type of post circulating on Bloglovin' and YouTube over the last few days and the nosey side of me loves seeing what other people received so I thought I'd join in on the action too. I absolutely love all of the presents I received and feel extremely lucky- my boyfriend and Santa know me well!

From my Boyfriend: Luke went OTT as usual and didn't stick to the budget! I was so chuffed to get a Canon camera so that I can have better quality photos for my blog and film the odd YouTube vid. He also got me Yankee Candles, Soap and Glory The Next Best Thing Set, a White to Brown Tanning Set, a Strawberry Gift Set and Lip Balms from the Body Shop, a Rimmel Gift Set and a bag containing all of my favourite sweets and chocolate.

I got these Studio Makeup Bags from Santa and the No7, Tony&Guy and Cranberry gift sets are from my brother and sister.

From Santa: I have already worn these boots loads, and I love the fact that they are something different from my mountain of black boots! So comfy and they look great with black tights or rolled up jeans.

From Santa: I have yet to wear these Boots but I know I will get so much wear out of them. I am so easily won over by anything with an animal print!

From Santa (my lil sis who reads this blog thinks Mrs Claus picked these out): I got a bundle of clothes from Missguided comprised of Co Ords and dressy staples which I cannot wait to wear in the New Year.

From Santa: I am not a label snob and absolutely love this tan Michael Kors imitation bag. I have already used the black textured clutch which goes nicely with leather/pleather. The leopard print one will be the perfect accessory to dress up an otherwise plain outfit and both of those are from Penneys/Primark.

From Santa: These are just two items from my Stocking. I have used the Naked Palette loads already and can honestly say I would use every single colour in it (it's not often I can say that about eyeshadow palettes). I love the vintage vibe of this metallic gold mirror which is a perfect addition to my bedroom.

From Santa & Boyfriend: Last but not least Sweets! An essential part of Christmas is stuffing your face! This is only some of them andI don't know how I'm gonna get through all of them but I'll definitely make a good stab at it!
