Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream

It terms of BB Cream, Garnier is my go to brand when I want a nice sheer, breathable coverage. However, I have just finished the last of it and instead of repurchasing it for the fourth time I wanted to try something new. I have just gone back to work and the air-con/ central heating is wreaking havoc on my skin! Anything too heavy just leaves my skin looking dull and caked so BB Cream is definitely the best thing for a light even coverage. I swatched a few different BB Creams from Maybelline and L'Oréal in Boots and the Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream just felt like the most moisturising one with the best coverage.

Rimmel 9 in 1 is quite thick in texture in comparison to other BB Creams which is something that I like as it gives a better lasting coverage. The finish is Semi- Matte which is exactly what I want need for daytime; I like to pair it with the No.7 Instant Radiance Cream Highlight and the Maybelline Eraser Concealer to give a dewy and glowy look.

It claims to: prime, moisturise, minimize pores, conceal, cover, smooth, mattify, brighten and help protect. I definitely didn't pick this up as a multi-purpose product and if I did I would have to say that it doesn't tick all nine boxes. I needed to use separate products to prime, highlight and conceal  as this product doesn't do that, It is moisturising, has a medium coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and has an SPF of 25 which is all that I look for in a BB Cream so it is a thumbs up for me!

If you have any BB Cream recommendations please let me know below!

Budget Beauty Buys at Penneys/Primark

There is nothing that I love more than a bargain when it comes to beauty products so I thought I would share some of my favourites with you! All of these items are from the P.S. Love range in Penneys/ Primark which means that they are easy to get your hands on and if you find that you don't like them at least you won't be out a fortune!

Makeup Brush Cleaner 125ml, €2.50
I have previously written a blog post on the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner, here, stating how handy it is for keeping your makeup brushes clean in between giving them a deep clean. However, the Cinema Secrets one is twice the price with only half the contents in comparison to the P.S. Love Brush Cleaner from Penneys! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Penneys counterpart is and will definitely be purchasing more in the future!

False Nails in Fashion & French, €1.50
These False Nails are perfect for an event or night out and are so easy to apply! The glue that comes with them does the trick but if you want them to last a little bit longer it is better to buy some Broadway Nail Glue and use it instead. The only thing about these nails is they aren't going to fit everyone's nails perfectly but for €1.50 can you really complain!? I love the polished look that these nails give for such a tiny price tag!

30PK Individual Lashes, €1.50
These are by far my favourite budget beauty buy from Penneys/Primark. I have a pack of unopened individual lashes from Eylure that I never seem to gravitate towards. I love the fluttery effect of these P.S. Love lashes and they look so natural applied to the outer corners of the top lashes. I am wearing them in this picture below along with a Wet N Wild Lipstick in "Cherry Picking"(which can also be found in Penneys). The Ardell Demi Wispies are my all time favourite strip lashes but are quite pricey and the P.S. Love lashes are like the Demi Wispies in Individual Lash form!

Sleek Face Form Blush and Contouring Palette

I can't seem to get enough of the Sleek Face Form Blush and Contouring Palette lately and have been using it religiously since I got it. The powders are soft and pigmented and blend easily and the palette itself is so compact it fits perfectly in my makeup bag.

The bronzer is mostly neutral with a slight red undertone - this only became noticeable when I used it as a brow powder. I use this bronzer as a natural everyday eyeshadow also so it is definitely a multi use product. The highlight shade is quite subtle but build-able  for a more glowy finish.

My least favourite of all three is the blush shade as it contains flecks of shimmer and is slightly less pigmented than the other two powders and you need to apply much more to achieve the same colour pay-off. However, in spite of this the Sleek Face Form Blush and Contouring Palette is a current beauty favourite of mines! You can buy it on Superdrug for £9.99.

Mac Fix+ Dupe: Nivea Refreshing Toner

If there is one product that I see Makeup Artists continuously use in tutorials it's Fix+ by Mac: "Helps create an even surface for a smooth makeup application." I've always been intrigued to see if it would make a difference to the finish of my makeup and when I found a dupe for it on Pinterest I had to give it a try. I picked up a bottle of the Nivea Refreshing Toner and also bought a travel sized spray bottle from Superdrug to transfer it into.

Mac Fix+ and the Nivea Refreshing Toner are both water based products with similar ingredients such as glycerin and hydrogenated caster oil.
As I suffer from dry/dehydrated skin I find this so refreshing and hydrating to apply before makeup and after I set it so that it appears less "powdery."

Uses:
Skin Refresher/ Finishing Mist NOT a setting spray.
Spritz onto beauty blender before applying foundation for a more natural finish.
Spritz onto eyeshadow brush before applying baked/shimmer eyeshadows to give a more vibrant effect.
Spray after setting with powder so the powder sets into your skin and the finish is less "cakey".
Use with gel liner that has hardened in the pot to break up the product so that it will glide on easily.

The Nivea Refreshing Toner retails for €4.79 for 200ml in comparison to Mac Fix+ which costs around €18.50 for only 100ml.

If you have any makeup or skincare dupes I would love to hear them!

Budget Beauty: Seventeen Cosmetics Makeup Brushes

I was eyeing up the Real Techniques Bold Metal range in Boots recently when I spotted a seemingly new launch from Seventeen Cosmetics.  Won over by the cheap price and having not heard anything in the media about these brushes I decided I would review two of them to see what the quality was like. There are four brushes available in this range: Powder & Blush Brush, Eye-shadow Brush, Angled Eyeliner Brush and Lip Brush. I opted for the Cheek and Eyeshadow brushes as these are two I would get the most use out of.

Surely two makeup brushes for the bargain price of £4.98 wouldn't be that great I thought? WRONG! The bristles are 100% synthetic but feel quite soft against the skin. They don't feel harsh and plastic-y unlike typical cheap makeup brushes. I have also found that they don't shed easily which is another massive bonus. I used my Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner as normal to wash these and they came out looking like new again.

I also think that these are the ideal choice to pop into your clutch bag on a night out for touch ups. I can honestly say that there is nothing worse than losing an expensive MAC brush on a night out and feeling begrudged to replace it. At least if you lose one of these it won't break the bank to run to boots and pick up a new one. You can shop the Seventeen Brush collection here.

Let me know what you think if you've tried them!

Sick Day Makeup

So it is the first day of 2015 and I am still sick. Even though I 'm feeling like absolute crap I decided that I didn't want to feel ugly too so I took ten minutes out of lying in bed to throw some make up on. (I feel so much better for it already).

I kept things simple on my eyes with one swipe of eye shadow and a few coats of mascara. I also used white eye liner to make my glazed eyes look brighter. On my face I kept the base light by using a BB cream. A few swipes of bronzer and a cream blusher were used to add some colour to my pale face and bucket loads of concealer and highlighter to fake a glow. For my lips I used a lip liner that matches my lip colour and put a similar colour of lip balm over the top.

Face: NSpa Illuminating Beauty Serum, Benefit POREfessional, Garnier BB Cream in Light, Sephora Bronzer in Medium, MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter, MUA Cover&Conceal, Catrice Camouflage Cream, Max Factor Miracle Touch Cream Blush in 07 Sofy Candy.
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Liar), Soap and Glory Thick&Fast Mascara, Rimmel Kohl eye liner in Pure White.
Lips: Essence Lip Liner in Soft Mauve, Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Berry Soft.

Nope, it's not a cow pyjama hoody but a Disney Dalmatian one and it's an absolute essential for sick days! -So warm, fluffy and cosy.

I hope you all had a lovely New Year!
