New in Beauty Review: Urban Decay, Mac, Benefit, The Body Shop

I LOVE trying out new products and I always look to other bloggers for their honest reviews and opinions before I go and buy them myself. I bought a few makeup and skincare items recently and have been putting them to the test over the last few weeks. I feel that I  have given them a proper test run and can give a more honest review of them now.

This haul is a mish mash of new products and repurchases such as Benefit's Hoola, POREfessional and the Eyelure Lashes.

I have definitely found some new favourites within this bunch and was  most impressed with the Camomile Cleansing Butter from The Body Shop and the Dragon's Blood Fix Daily Cleansing Pads by Nip+Fab. .

Camomile Cleansing Butter, The Body Shop, £13
Camomile is known for it's soothing and purifying properties and this cleanser is suitable for all skin types. It takes off eye makeup without the stinging or dragging effect and leaves skin feeling hydrated instead of dry and tight. I will definitely repurchase this again.

Exaggerate Eyelashes in no.140 & 141, Eyelure London, £5.45 ea
If you have hooded eyes like me and want a full, dramatic lash for evening time, both of these lashes are perfect! The 140s are fuller and give a graduated effect whereas the 141s are more of a wispy style with the inner, middle, end lashes all being the same length. I always cut off a small section of the inner corner of the lashes as I find that they are too wide and end up dragging my eye down at the outer corners if I don't. Both styles are longtime favourites of mines and I always find myself gravitating back towards them.

Hoola Mini 4g, Benefit, £9.95
I haven't used this bronzer in years but I know that it is a cult favourite. I recently ran out of my Smashbox contour and wanted to try something different. After hearing so many great reviews about Hoola I decided to try it again. I didn't want to commit to buying the full size in case I didn't like it so the mini travel size was perfect and because I travel alot it made sense to get a smaller size anyway. It's very pigmented, easy to blend and is a lovely ashy, cool tone that gives a very natural contour.

The POREfessional Mini 8ml, £9.95
This is definitely my holy grail primer and know it is a favourite for many others too. It just does exactly what it is supposed to do - minimise pores and create an even base for foundation. If I have any dry patches it glides over them and doesn't flake anywhere which gets a huge thumbs up from me. I've tired other primers both high end and cheaper alternatives but I always gravitate back to this product.

Mac Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Stone, £15.50
This is one that I have always admired on others but never thought I'd be brave enough to try this myself. It is a very grey toned brown but it is surprisingly wearable and does not leave teeth looking yellow. It is a matte texture so it stays well but can get very drying after a while.

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray 30ml, £10
This is a very refreshing spray that can be in the same way as Mac Fix+ - before you apply your base or if your makeup is starting to appear cakey after a few hours wear. This is a nice product to have but it's not a holy grail for me and I have found other products to have the same effect on my skin such as a thermal water spray that is a third of the price. (You can get the Avéne Eau Thermale spray in Boots for £3).

So that concludes my mini beauty haul! Have you tried anything recently that is a new favourite? Please let me know!

Budget Beauty Buys at Penneys/Primark

There is nothing that I love more than a bargain when it comes to beauty products so I thought I would share some of my favourites with you! All of these items are from the P.S. Love range in Penneys/ Primark which means that they are easy to get your hands on and if you find that you don't like them at least you won't be out a fortune!

Makeup Brush Cleaner 125ml, €2.50
I have previously written a blog post on the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner, here, stating how handy it is for keeping your makeup brushes clean in between giving them a deep clean. However, the Cinema Secrets one is twice the price with only half the contents in comparison to the P.S. Love Brush Cleaner from Penneys! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Penneys counterpart is and will definitely be purchasing more in the future!

False Nails in Fashion & French, €1.50
These False Nails are perfect for an event or night out and are so easy to apply! The glue that comes with them does the trick but if you want them to last a little bit longer it is better to buy some Broadway Nail Glue and use it instead. The only thing about these nails is they aren't going to fit everyone's nails perfectly but for €1.50 can you really complain!? I love the polished look that these nails give for such a tiny price tag!

30PK Individual Lashes, €1.50
These are by far my favourite budget beauty buy from Penneys/Primark. I have a pack of unopened individual lashes from Eylure that I never seem to gravitate towards. I love the fluttery effect of these P.S. Love lashes and they look so natural applied to the outer corners of the top lashes. I am wearing them in this picture below along with a Wet N Wild Lipstick in "Cherry Picking"(which can also be found in Penneys). The Ardell Demi Wispies are my all time favourite strip lashes but are quite pricey and the P.S. Love lashes are like the Demi Wispies in Individual Lash form!

What are your favourite budget beauty items?

Makeup Haul #1

I've accumulated quite a few beauty products in the last few weeks and thought I'd share my thoughts on them with you. I happened to be in Heathrow Airport in February and naturally spend my time perusing the Duty Free makeup; of course this led me to pick up a lipstick or two from Mac (which is completely OK because they're only £12.90 each and usually retail at £15.50).

Mac Matte Lipstick in Heroine
This is a vibrant violet/purple with a matte finish that is surprisingly wearable and not to out there if you know how to wear it. I have mixed feelings about matte finish lipsticks and this one can be quite drying and flaky if you don't apply a lip balm beforehand.

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation in 021 Nude/Beige
The Dream Flawless Nude foundation is a new launch from Maybelline and has been making the rounds on many beauty blogs lately. I have to say that I really like this foundation in spite of it's weird water based consistency and dropper style applicator. Maybelline claim that it gives the appearance of a "second skin" and I have to agree; it is very silky, not at all cakey, and has a semi matte finish that covers pores and imperfections quite well. Although I radiate towards a more high coverage foundation for evening wear such as Benefit's Playstick, Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude offers the perfect day to day coverage.

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in All Fired Up
All Fired Up is described as a "bright fuchsia matte" but in my opinion it's the perfect merge of pink and red. It is an excellent transition shade into spring/summer and really helps to make your complexion look more alive when you're having a dull skin day. I would recommend applying a lip balm before using this lipstick too.

Rimmel Brow This Way in 02 Medium Brown
Benefit's Brow Zings will always be my favourite brow kit however, if you're budget can't stretch that far then Rimmel's Brow This Way is a much cheaper alternative. The kit contains a brow powder, brow wax, a mini spoolie and a mini angled brush. The only complaint I have with this product is the very limited shade range, medium brown or dark brown. I cannot understand why they don't have a shade in blonde as they do with their Brow This Way Gel.

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation in Warm Beige
I do like this foundation but so far I don't love it and wouldn't rush out to repurchase it. The consistency is quite waxy which reminds me of Mac Studio Fix and it gives a medium coverage. It is marketed as being "weather proof and transfer-proof, it won't cake or flake on dry skin, nor slide or shine on oily skin." It also boasts of "up to 24 hours wear" and whilst it did last quite well I did have to reapply it in places. I have yet to trial this on a night out to test it's staying power and camera flashback; it is a nice foundation just nothing WOW.

Travalo Fragrance Atomizer 5ml
This is a handy travel sized product for bringing your favourite perfume on the go whether it be in your handbag or in your clutch bag. The instructions on how to decant your perfume into the Travalo is very straight forward and easy to do. These are quite pricey for what they are but much cheaper in Duty Free and you can also get cheaper alternatives on Amazon. It definitely helps make your handbag that bit lighter (so you can throw more unnecessary things into it of course) without the worry of dropping and smashing your perfume.
