Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream

It terms of BB Cream, Garnier is my go to brand when I want a nice sheer, breathable coverage. However, I have just finished the last of it and instead of repurchasing it for the fourth time I wanted to try something new. I have just gone back to work and the air-con/ central heating is wreaking havoc on my skin! Anything too heavy just leaves my skin looking dull and caked so BB Cream is definitely the best thing for a light even coverage. I swatched a few different BB Creams from Maybelline and L'Oréal in Boots and the Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream just felt like the most moisturising one with the best coverage.

Rimmel 9 in 1 is quite thick in texture in comparison to other BB Creams which is something that I like as it gives a better lasting coverage. The finish is Semi- Matte which is exactly what I want need for daytime; I like to pair it with the No.7 Instant Radiance Cream Highlight and the Maybelline Eraser Concealer to give a dewy and glowy look.

It claims to: prime, moisturise, minimize pores, conceal, cover, smooth, mattify, brighten and help protect. I definitely didn't pick this up as a multi-purpose product and if I did I would have to say that it doesn't tick all nine boxes. I needed to use separate products to prime, highlight and conceal  as this product doesn't do that, It is moisturising, has a medium coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and has an SPF of 25 which is all that I look for in a BB Cream so it is a thumbs up for me!

If you have any BB Cream recommendations please let me know below!

Makeup Haul #1

I've accumulated quite a few beauty products in the last few weeks and thought I'd share my thoughts on them with you. I happened to be in Heathrow Airport in February and naturally spend my time perusing the Duty Free makeup; of course this led me to pick up a lipstick or two from Mac (which is completely OK because they're only £12.90 each and usually retail at £15.50).

Mac Matte Lipstick in Heroine
This is a vibrant violet/purple with a matte finish that is surprisingly wearable and not to out there if you know how to wear it. I have mixed feelings about matte finish lipsticks and this one can be quite drying and flaky if you don't apply a lip balm beforehand.

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation in 021 Nude/Beige
The Dream Flawless Nude foundation is a new launch from Maybelline and has been making the rounds on many beauty blogs lately. I have to say that I really like this foundation in spite of it's weird water based consistency and dropper style applicator. Maybelline claim that it gives the appearance of a "second skin" and I have to agree; it is very silky, not at all cakey, and has a semi matte finish that covers pores and imperfections quite well. Although I radiate towards a more high coverage foundation for evening wear such as Benefit's Playstick, Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude offers the perfect day to day coverage.

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in All Fired Up
All Fired Up is described as a "bright fuchsia matte" but in my opinion it's the perfect merge of pink and red. It is an excellent transition shade into spring/summer and really helps to make your complexion look more alive when you're having a dull skin day. I would recommend applying a lip balm before using this lipstick too.

Rimmel Brow This Way in 02 Medium Brown
Benefit's Brow Zings will always be my favourite brow kit however, if you're budget can't stretch that far then Rimmel's Brow This Way is a much cheaper alternative. The kit contains a brow powder, brow wax, a mini spoolie and a mini angled brush. The only complaint I have with this product is the very limited shade range, medium brown or dark brown. I cannot understand why they don't have a shade in blonde as they do with their Brow This Way Gel.

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation in Warm Beige
I do like this foundation but so far I don't love it and wouldn't rush out to repurchase it. The consistency is quite waxy which reminds me of Mac Studio Fix and it gives a medium coverage. It is marketed as being "weather proof and transfer-proof, it won't cake or flake on dry skin, nor slide or shine on oily skin." It also boasts of "up to 24 hours wear" and whilst it did last quite well I did have to reapply it in places. I have yet to trial this on a night out to test it's staying power and camera flashback; it is a nice foundation just nothing WOW.

Travalo Fragrance Atomizer 5ml
This is a handy travel sized product for bringing your favourite perfume on the go whether it be in your handbag or in your clutch bag. The instructions on how to decant your perfume into the Travalo is very straight forward and easy to do. These are quite pricey for what they are but much cheaper in Duty Free and you can also get cheaper alternatives on Amazon. It definitely helps make your handbag that bit lighter (so you can throw more unnecessary things into it of course) without the worry of dropping and smashing your perfume.

Sick Day Makeup

So it is the first day of 2015 and I am still sick. Even though I 'm feeling like absolute crap I decided that I didn't want to feel ugly too so I took ten minutes out of lying in bed to throw some make up on. (I feel so much better for it already).

I kept things simple on my eyes with one swipe of eye shadow and a few coats of mascara. I also used white eye liner to make my glazed eyes look brighter. On my face I kept the base light by using a BB cream. A few swipes of bronzer and a cream blusher were used to add some colour to my pale face and bucket loads of concealer and highlighter to fake a glow. For my lips I used a lip liner that matches my lip colour and put a similar colour of lip balm over the top.

Face: NSpa Illuminating Beauty Serum, Benefit POREfessional, Garnier BB Cream in Light, Sephora Bronzer in Medium, MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter, MUA Cover&Conceal, Catrice Camouflage Cream, Max Factor Miracle Touch Cream Blush in 07 Sofy Candy.
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Liar), Soap and Glory Thick&Fast Mascara, Rimmel Kohl eye liner in Pure White.
Lips: Essence Lip Liner in Soft Mauve, Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Berry Soft.

Nope, it's not a cow pyjama hoody but a Disney Dalmatian one and it's an absolute essential for sick days! -So warm, fluffy and cosy.

I hope you all had a lovely New Year!

November Favourites

Here is a round up of the products that I've been using religiously this month and a few reasons why I've been loving them so much!

Catrice Camouflage Cream €5.69
This concealer is creamy in consistency and is best suited for covering blemishes and redness. I think it's a brilliant dupe for Benefit's Bong Concealer and for €5.69 it's worth trying!

NYX Creamy Lipstick in B52 €5.49
This colour is the perfect neutral every day shade. It's creamy as the name suggests but also has great staying power and doesn't need to be reapplied that often throughout the day. I love this lipstick and will be purchasing more colours from this range soon.

Max Factor Miracle Touch Blusher in Soft Candy €9.99
The soft texture of this blusher is ideal duringthe Winter months when skin is particularly prone to being dry and flaky. The best product for natural looking flushed cheeks.

Soap and Glory The Perfect Ten €20.50
A mixture of matte and shimmer shades, this is an excellent palette that is evocative of the Naked Eyeshadow Palette range. The eyeshadows themselves are easy to blend and are also quite pigmented. The large mirror on the inside makes it handy for doing make up on the go!

Catrice Ligh Reflecting Concealer €5.69
I am quite prone to under eye darkness and have so far been impressed by this product. I am always trying out new concealers to find one that ticks all the boxes but have settled on this one (for now!) It has a definite YSL Touche Eclat feel to it and will be a repurchase.

Touch of Silver Shampoo by Provoke €2.99
I have been using this shampoo for over 2 years now and don't know how I ever lived without it! (I have been getting highlights for over 10 years). This keeps hair from looking brassy in between highlights and gives blonde hair a nice silver tone.

Topshop Lipstick in Beguiled €9
The perfect mixture of a berry and red for a Winter make up look. It is quite creamy and because of this it needs to be applied often throughout the day. This lipstick looks beautiful paired with a gold eye and lots of highlighter.

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Body Lotion in Cocoa Butter €7.49
Garnier is my favourite go to brand for body lotions and I have been using this particular one since September. I use this about 3 times a week and just after a shower to lock in moisture. The thing I love most about this is the fact that it is super moisturising but doesn't feel greasy. The 400ml bottle also lasts ages and I will be buying this when it runs out.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara €9.99
My eyelashes are naturally long but it's hard to find and all purpose mascara that gives both length and volume. This is a fibre formula mascara and the wand is quite small so it's easy to work with and most importantly doesn't clump. Some people don't rate this but once mine is empty I will be repurchasing. Love it!
